Prescott Regional Airport Receives $3.1 Million Grant for Airport Protection

The City of Prescott has taken receipt of grant funds from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) in the amount of $3,100,000, as a partial reimbursement for the purchase of land for protection of the North approach of the crosswind runway, more commonly known as the North Ranch property.   The $3,100,000.00 represents 90% of the eligible portion of land acquisition, which will be matched by $344,444.00 in City funds.
The City is expecting an additional $3,000,000 in Congressionally Directed Spending, which was sponsored by and directed from Senator Kelly’s office. These funds are expected to be ready for council acceptance in early 2025.
“We are pleased to be the recipient of these two grants, which represent state and federal investment in our community’s airport,” said Airport Director Rick Crider.“ These grants helps us meet our objectives of airport protection and compatible development.”
The North Ranch land was acquired by the City of Prescott for $8 Million, and closed in late March 2024.
