Prescott Regional Airport Receives Two Grants Totaling $3,343,000

Prescott City Council approved acceptance of two grants for the Prescott Regional Airport, totaling $3,343,000.   The first grant in the amount of $3,100,000 is from Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and is intended to reimburse the City for land acquisition for airport protection. The second grant, totaling $243,000 is from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), for ongoing planning and environmental work at the airport.

“We are pleased to be the recipient of these two these grants,” said Airport Director Rick Crider. “The ADOT grant helps us meet our objectives of airport protection, while the FAA Grant supports planning and environmental work for construction projects at the airport.  We sincerely appreciate the support of ADOT and the FAA in these important endeavors.  Prescott Regional Airport will continue to seek additional grants to reimburse current and future land acquisition costs.  We look forward to announcing more grant awards in the future.”

According to the City Council memo, the ADOT grant will be used to reimburse the City for land acquired to protect the airport. The $3,100,000.00 is the 90% match of the grant, with the local match of 10% being $344,444.00.

The memo also states that ADOT assists the state’s airports with funding for planning, design and construction projects. This funding will fund the reimbursement of land on the north end of crosswind runway 12/30 at Prescott Regional Airport – Ernest A. Love

Field, more commonly referred to as the North Ranch. This land was acquired by the City for airport protection.

The FAA Grant will be used to support planning and environmental work at the airport.  The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) assists the nation’s airports with funding for planning, design and construction projects under the Airport Improvement Program. This funding, which is part of the Supplemental Discretionary Funds, will fund planning and environmental elements of an unleaded fuel study and taxi-lanes at Prescott Regional Airport – Ernest A. Love Field. The total grant amount of $255,150 will be funded 95% ($243,000.00) by the FAA, with an additional 5% ($24,300.00) funded by the City of Prescott.
