Prescott Fire Department is proud to announce that the 2025 Arizona Wildland Urban Interface Summit will be held locally from October 28-30. This event, being held at the Sam Hill Warehouse, is hosted by the Arizona Wildfire Initiative, Southwest Fire Consortium, and Northern Arizona University School of Forestry. Nearly 200 participants from around the state are registered to attend. The summit will focus on home hardening strategies that matter, home insurance policies related to wildfire-structure conflagrations, emerging technology for community assessment, statewide updates related to wildfire and safety, fuel treatment strategies, wildfire prevention and more.
Attendees will also visit local sites which demonstrate the collaborations and partnerships which are occurring between local fire authorities and the community. Sites visited will include viewing the Cathedral Pines perimeter sprinkler project, the Bean Peaks Gravity trails and adjacent fuels mitigation project, the overlook for the 2002 Indian Fire to view its footprint and the role forest management played in limiting the fire, a demonstration of remote controlled mastication units at Acker Park, tour the Prescott National Forest Fire Center, and a visit to the Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Tribute and Learning Center.
