The City of Prescott’s Recreation Services Department has recently received two community recognitions, highlighting its ongoing efforts to support youth programs and provide high-quality recreational spaces.
At Prescott Little League’s Opening Day ceremony on March 28, Recreation Services was honored with the Bill Vallely Award, an annual recognition of outstanding contributions by volunteers and community partners. The event welcomed more than 500 youth participants this season, marking the league’s highest enrollment in several years. During the ceremony, Little League leadership recognized the work of the City’s Park Maintenance team in maintaining safe, well-kept playing fields, including the recently renovated field at Willow Lake Park, which now serves as the league’s home field.
In addition, Kayla’s Hands Playground was named the 2026 Best Outdoor Space for Teens in Prescott at the annual Launch Pad Teen Choice Awards. Recreation Services staff attended the ceremony alongside Kayla’s parents, Carl and Marsha Muller, and Kiwanis Club of Prescott President Dan Berryman. The playground, created in memory of Kayla Muller, continues to serve as a welcoming and inclusive space for local youth.
These recognitions reflect the community partnerships and ongoing efforts that contribute to recreation opportunities throughout Prescott.
As part of continued planning efforts, the City invites residents to participate in the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process. A public open house will be held on April 21 at 6 p.m. at the Adult Center, where community members can provide input and learn more about future plans for parks and recreation in Prescott. Residents can also take the Master Plan survey by visiting: https://prescott-az.gov/prescott-parks-recreation-master-plan-project/
