Notice of Intent – Proposed Solid Waste Fee Increase

The Prescott City Council will consider proposed increases to Solid Waste service fees at its regular meeting on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM at City Hall (201 N. Montezuma St.). If approved, the new fees would take effect October 1, 2026.

The proposed fee increases are needed because current revenues are no longer sufficient to cover ongoing operating expenses. Rising costs include hauling and disposal, collection vehicle replacement, and other operational expenses.

Proposed changes include:
♻️ Residential solid waste collection base rate increase from $24.33 to $31.00 per month
🗑️ Commercial collection rate adjustments. For example, weekly collection of a 4-cubic-yard dumpster would increase from $122.28 to $144.00.
🚛 Transfer Station tipping fee increase from $106 to $125 per ton. The $20 minimum load charge would remain unchanged.

The proposed fee schedule, including the amount of each proposed fee, and the written report and supporting data are available on the City’s website.
