Pavement Preservation Along Mount Vernon Avenue to Begin November 4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRESCOTT, AZ (October 30, 2026) – As part of the FY27 Pavement Preservation Project, the City of Prescott and their contractor, Cactus Asphalt, are set to begin pavement preservation work on Wednesday, November 4, along Mount Vernon Avenue, between Sheldon Street and Gurley Street, as shown on the map. Please note that the intersection of Willis Street and Mount Vernon Avenue is not included in this project. Construction efforts will begin with utility adjustments and paving preparation work before crews return on Friday, November 13 to pave the roadway. Once complete, this project will extend pavement life and improve the road quality for Prescott motorists. In case of inclement weather, work may be postponed without notice until weather permits.

Paving will occur along one side of the roadway at a time. Please be aware of lane restrictions, reduced speeds, loud noise, flagging operations, on-street parking restrictions and possible limited driveway access throughout the work zones. Barricades and signage will be placed along the affected street before work begins. To avoid conflicts with construction equipment and expedite completion of the project, the City asks that you avoid on-street parking while construction is underway.

The City is dedicated to keeping the traveling public, businesses and residents informed of potential construction impacts throughout the project. For questions and additional project information, please call the Project Hotline at (928) 237-3114.
