The City of Prescott will host a series of informational public open houses about public safety in Prescott, outlining details of Proposition 478 which will be on the November ballot. These open houses will provide facts and data about Prescott’s current public safety infrastructure, and how proposed additional revenue will help build and staff fire stations and police facilities into the future. The open houses will feature information boards and handouts, and staff members will be available to answer questions.

Proposition 478 seeks to increase the Transaction Privilege (sales) tax by .95% to fund fire and police capital projects including fire stations and a police evidence facility. Once capital needs are met, this proposal would reduce the tax to .75%. The remaining .75% would pay for ongoing operations.
