City of Prescott to Receive $15 Million for Rodeo Grounds Improvements

With the recent approval of the state budget, the City of Prescott is set to receive $15.3 million for infrastructure improvements at the Prescott Rodeo Grounds. The funds, which were originally allocated to Prescott Frontier Days in 2023, were in limbo after a Maricopa County judge ruled the allocation violated the state’s gift clause. Contrary to some reports, the City was not involved in that litigation. State Senator Mark Finchem and State Representatives Quang Nguyen and Selina Bliss were able to secure these funds for the City to implement necessary improvements at the rodeo grounds as part of this year’s legislative session.

“We are very pleased to receive these funds for much-needed improvements to the aging rodeo grounds and the infrastructure that supports it,” said City Manager Dallin Kimble. “The City will be working to develop a plan for those improvements and complete appropriate projects within the requirements provided by the state.”

“This is an important consequence for the City of Prescott and our rodeo grounds,” said Mayor Phil Goode. “We have worked diligently to see this effort come to a positive result and I want to extend my thanks and recognition to Senator Finchem, along with the support of Representatives Nguyen and Bliss, to reach this final positive result. We look forward to investing these funds in the upgrade and renovation of the rodeo grounds in the best interest of the city, the rodeo, the participants, the visitors, and all other users of the rodeo grounds for their safety and enjoyment.”
