Prescott Public Library is celebrating 50 years on Goodwin Street, and we invite you to join us May 30, 5-8 pm for Fest in the West! This after-hours celebration will include something for everyone! Bring your Library Passports (or pick one up now at the library or at the event while supplies last) to receive tickets for every 2 stamped events and enter your choice of drawing prizes donated by our amazing community.
Activities for all ages, include, “Touch the Truck,” featuring a fire engine, police vehicles, an ambulance, and construction vehicles. More fun for youth on the back lawn from 5 to 7 pm, including Unlimited Bubbles (The Bubble Guy); Russ “Squeaky” Sutton the Balloon Guy; face painting with TAG (Teen Advisory Group); crafts with Prescott Art Docents; Abundant Photo Booth and custom selfie photo stands; Read to a Dog from Alliance of Therapy Dogs; and more.
Live music and performances by Zach Dominguez, Footlight Theater Company, Suzanne Fisher Dulce Trio, METV, Prescott Ukulele Guild and more will be held inside on the 2nd Floor. Enjoy a scavenger hunt and yard games for all ages. Prescott Regulators and their Shady Ladies will be in attendance as old west ambassadors of Prescott.
Mayor Phil Goode and Prescott City Manager Dallin Kimble will kick off events on the main stage at 5:30 pm, followed by line dancing by Mary Heller at 6:30 pm, with interspersed recognition events. Former Prescott Public Library employees are invited to join us on stage at 6 pm. Our own Bud Garso (the voice of Prescott Public Library) will emcee the event, and you can expect a great mix of tunes from the ‘70s through today.
Food vendors, Oogies Dogs, Guac N Roll, O’Hana Shave Ice, and Safari Samosas will be available at an additional cost.
A special display celebrating the history of Prescott Public Library will be held in our Viewerie on the 2nd floor throughout the month of May. The Friends of Prescott Public Library, our generous sponsors for the event, will also be holding a book sale and selling other fun items.
