The Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning and Tribute Center will host a birthday celebration for Smokey Bear on Saturday, August 9 from 11 am to 1 pm. Smokey himself will be there to greet fans. There will also be birthday cake, and stickers activities for kids.
The Center honors the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots who perished battling the Yarnell Hill fire on June 30, 2013. The Center houses all the items removed from the Station 7 memorial fence that sprang up in the wake of their deaths, and teaches about wildland fire.
