Just a short 4-mile drive from Prescott our lakes in the pines, Upper Goldwater Lake and Lower Goldwater Lake, offer scenic settings and a variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. Although Goldwater and Lower Goldwater Lake span just 15 acres, this smaller lake system provides plenty of ways to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Activities at Goldwater Lake include picnicking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, and boating. Electronic motors are permitted for boating on Goldwater Lake only; however, swimming is not allowed. A public boat ramp is available for visitors bringing their own boats. Kayaks and canoes may also be rented during lake hours from Born To Be Wild Adventures Tours & Rentals | Prescott Arizona.
Lower Goldwater Lake offers a quieter experience and is primarily managed for fishing and shoreline enjoyment, with regulations that differ from Goldwater. No watercraft are permitted on Lower Goldwater Lake, including kayaks and paddleboards. A float tube propelled solely by foot movement using flippers is not considered a watercraft and is permitted.
Lower Goldwater Lake also has specific fishing regulations. The lake is catch-and-release only. Fishing is restricted to the use of artificial flies or lures only. The use of any fishing bait, whether live or dead, is prohibited.
Our Lake in the Pines provides a peaceful, forested atmosphere ideal for picnicking, walking, and relaxing in nature.
Goldwater Lake and the surrounding recreation areas are open year-round, with operating hours varying by season. For visitors who prefer lakeside relaxation over water activities, the area offers numerous amenities. The lake is surrounded by hiking trails that connect to the Prescott National Forest and includes picnic tables, grills, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, and a children’s playground. Restrooms are available on-site.
Located just minutes from Prescott, these lakes are beautiful destinations where individuals and families alike can enjoy the outdoors year-round.
