The City of Prescott Announces Appointment of Jon Brambila as Chief of Police

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRESCOTT, AZ (October 28, 2026) – The City of Prescott is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Brambila as the new Chief of Police for the Prescott Police Department, effective October 28, 2026.
Chief Brambila brings 27 years of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as Interim Police Chief with the Prescott Police Department. During his career, he has held leadership roles across the Prescott Police Department and has spent over 15 years on the department Special Weapons and Tactics Team. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Oklahoma and is a graduate of the 270th class of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
“Chief Brambila knows Prescott, cares deeply about this community, and understands the responsibility that comes with serving it,” said City Manager Dallin Kimble. “He distinguished himself throughout the recruitment process and I’m confident in his ability to lead our police department. We face important challenges in public safety, and I look forward to working with him to support our officers, strengthen public trust, and ensure our department is prepared to meet the community’s needs for years to come.”
Through a national search, the City received thirteen applications from chiefs of police and assistant chiefs of police across the country. Five advanced to the interview process, where Chief Brambila separated himself from the competition. A final round of interviews was canceled when it was determined to be unnecessary to the selection.
“I am truly humbled and incredibly excited for the opportunity to serve as Chief of the Prescott Police Department,” said Chief Brambila. “It is the honor of a lifetime to lead this exceptional team and continue our commitment to safety, integrity, and community partnership.”
Chief Brambila will succeed Chief Bonney, who retired on July 17, 2026.
