FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRESCOTT, AZ (November 4, 2026) – The City of Prescott is transitioning from emergency response to recovery operations following the flooding event that began November 1, 2026. All evacuation orders have been lifted, and conditions throughout the community continue to improve.
All lake reservoirs have stopped overtopping their dams, and water levels are continuing to recede. Water release valves will remain open until lake levels reach below the spillway at a level that is safe for recreation. Dam inspections are progressing, and the City is conducting water quality testing at all lakes. Stormwater inflows have resulted in higher-than-normal concentrations of E. coli in the lake water. For additional information on the lake water quality and testing results, visit the City’s Water Quality Dashboard: https://participateprescott.com/prescott-water-quality-dashboard
Parks at the lakes will remain closed until testing and safety assessments confirm they are safe for public access.
Road Closures and Cleanup
Most streets are passable and City crews continue clearing debris, cleaning culverts, removing fallen trees, and sweeping streets. The following low water crossings remain closed as cleanup and repair work continues:
- Joseph Street at Cherry Street
- Clearwater at Robin Drive
Motorists should follow posted closure signs, avoid barricaded areas, and never attempt to drive through flooded roadways or fast-moving water.
Traffic Signal Repairs
The traffic signal at Marina Street and Gurley Street was damaged during the flooding and is currently out of service. Repairs will take several days while the necessary replacement parts are obtained. Motorists should use caution when approaching the intersection and follow applicable traffic laws.
Parks, Lakes, and Trail Closures
Several parks and recreation areas remain closed due to unsafe conditions and flood-related damage. Current park and facility closures include:
- Granite Creek Park
- West Granite Creek Park
- Watson Lake, Willow Lake, and Goldwater Lake
- Upper Bill Valley Field
Flooding has also damaged trails and bridges throughout the community, including the Greenways, Flume, and Granite Gardens areas. These areas remain closed while the City evaluates conditions and determines necessary repairs.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to avoid flooded, damaged, or excessively muddy trails. Walking or riding on saturated trails can cause additional damage and delay restoration efforts.
Reporting Private Property Damage
Property owners who would like to report damage related to the flooding should contact the City of Prescott Community Development Department at (928) 777-1405, option 1. The Community Development team will assist in performing Initial Damage Assessments of the property so that this can be logged as damage due to the flooding event.
Ongoing Recovery Efforts
While conditions are improving, recovery work will continue in the days and weeks ahead. Residents are encouraged to remain aware of posted closures and follow City communications as additional information becomes available.
For the latest road, park, lake, and trail conditions, and additional recovery information, visit the City’s Prescott Flooding & Emergency Information webpage: https://prescott-az.gov/prescott-flooding-emergency-information/.
