Civic Enhancement Committee

Advisory Board to the City Council

The Civic Enhancement Committee was formed by Resolution No. 2023-1865 in September 2023. 

This BCC combines the roles of the former Acker Trust Board, Art in Public Places Committee, Library Advisory Board and Parks & Recreation Board including Acker Trust Grant awards, acceptance of public art donations & projects, recommendations to Council regarding development and advancement of public services provided by the Prescott Public Library and parks & recreation needs of the community. 

Civic Enhancement Committee is comprised of five members that meet quarterly in March, June, September and December.

PURSUANT to Arizona Revised Statutes, Section 38-431.01 a Notice of Possible Quorum is hereby given because there may be a quorum of members from Council-appointed Boards, Commissions and Committees attending City Council Meetings and Work Sessions AND/OR there may also be a quorum of City Council members attending Council-appointed Boards, Commissions and Committees; however, no voting will take place.

60-day Public Comment Period Now Open

At their Thursday, December 19th Meeting the Civic Enhancement Committee recommended acceptance and placement of three (3) horse sculptures from artist Gene Galazan. In accordance with the City’s Art Donation Policy the 60-day public comment period is now open and this item will go before the Council for action at the Tuesday, February 25th Voting Meeting. To submit comment regarding the sculptures and/or location please follow the link below or contact the city clerk’s office at 928-777-1437.

Grant Applications

The City of Prescott Civic Enhancement Committee is now accepting grant applications from eligible non-profit organizations.

In accordance with the will of J.S. Acker, non-profit organizations that promote “… music and parks, especially for the children of Prescott …” are encouraged to apply for funding for Fiscal Year 2026 (July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026). The application deadline is 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025. 

Applications are available below or at the City Clerk’s Office, 201 N Montezuma Street, Suite 302, Prescott, AZ 86301.

Presentation & Distribution Determination Meeting – Applicants must present their proposal to the Civic Enhancement Committee; Committee will review and determine distribution recommendations for Council’s approval.

No Later than June 5th, 2025Committee Recommendation letters will be sent to applicants through the City Clerk’s Office.
June 24, 2025City Council reviews Civic Enhancement Committee recommendations and vote.
No later than June 27, 2025Council approval letters will be sent to applicants from the City Clerk’s Office.
Funding: Funds will be dispersed upon completion of grantee’s program. A request letter must be submitted.
Note: Dates are approximate and it is the applicant’s responsibility to confirm deadlines and presentation dates, which are applicable to them.
