Appointment based Bulk Item collection

In order to provide better service to our valued customers, we are excited to introduce our New Appointment-Based Bulk Program! Registration is available below. Each residential trash customer qualifies for one complimentary collection per calendar year, which can be scheduled at the resident's convenience. No more pesky piles left out for weeks, & no more worrying if you missed your opportunity because you can now schedule your pick up to meet your family's needs. Commercial business or communities on Dumpsters are NOT eligible for this service.

PLEASE BAG, BOX, BUNDLE, AND TIE YOUR ITEMS.

Place all items on the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the morning of your scheduled bulk appointment. Please note piles may not be out any earlier than 4 business days from scheduled appointment.

The Following Are Acceptable Items for Collection:

  • Household Items
  • BBQ Grills (no propane tanks)
  • Bicycles
  • Furniture (tables, chairs, mattresses, etc.)
  • Leaves and small yard debris must be bagged or boxed
  • Branches, limbs and large debris must be cut into four foot (4’) lengths and tied
  • Appliances (those which contain or have contained, CFC’s (Freon)) must be accompanied by a certificate from a licensed professional stating that the CFC’s have been evacuated.

The Following Items WILL NOT be collected as part of Bulk Item Clean Up Week:

No items over 50 pounds will be collected.

  • Propane Tanks
  • Automobile Batteries
  • Hazardous Wastes (see Household Hazardous Waste pickup information above for more details)
  • Concrete, blocks, brick, asphalt, stone or dirt
  • No Commercial, contractor or demolition debris will be collected

Bulk Collection Information

Unacceptable Materials for Bulk Collection Include:
Tires, refrigerators, freezers, hazardous materials (HHW), medical waste, paint, automotive parts, motor oil, batteries, light bulbs, propane or compressed style tanks and construction materials such as carpet, concrete, blocks, pavers and brick.

** Holidays may affect your regularly scheduled trash pickup.**

Any and all items left at or near the curb could be thrown away as part of the event collection. Please remove any items near the curb that you don’t wish to be picked up to avoid any confusion or unwanted disposal as the city will not be responsible for such items. Persons should be aware that information submitted on this form will become part of the City's public records and that Arizona’s Public Records Law, A.R.S. §39-121, et. seq. will require the City to disclose such record and information upon a request for public records.

Christmas Tree Pickup/Dropoff - JANUARY
NEW for customers- You will register to get your tree removed after the Holidays. Stay tuned for more info as we get closer the Holiday.
 

Residential customers may also dispose of their live Christmas trees, at no cost, at the Transfer Station, 2800 Sundog Ranch Rd. from December 29th through January 9th, 2026 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Household Hazardous Waste Pickup - MARCH

The 2025 Household Hazardous Waste event was a great success! Please return in the fall for information regarding the dates of the next event. We extend our gratitude to all participants for their contributions to Keeping Prescott Beautiful!

This event allows residents to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste.

Who Can Participate: This event is exclusively for Residential Trash Customers.
*Commercial businesses and apartment complexes are not eligible for this service.

Registration Required: Registration opens Feb 3rd and will run through March 21st

Accepted materials include, but are not limited to: Insecticides • pesticides • gasoline • car batteries • drain and oven cleaners • bleaches • oil-based paints, stains, or thinners (5 gallon limit) • latex paints (20 gallon limit) • adhesives • non-alkaline batteries

Required Placement: All items will need to be in a box labeled HHW and placed in front of your home 6-10 ft. up from your curb so it can be safely and easily seen by our contractor for pickup on your schedule day.

Important Reminder: This contracted curb-side pick-up event is exclusively for residential utility customers. Commercial businesses will not receive these services. If you have additional questions, please call us at 928-777-1116.

Customers will need to show ID or Water bill*

Residential trash customers only: No commercial business, or apartment complexes will be able to utilize this service.

City of Prescott residential customers will need to self haul these items to the City of Prescott Transfer Station located at 2800 Sundog Ranch Rd. Proof of City of Prescott residency in the form of a driver’s license or utility bill is required.

Please do not bag or tie these materials AND cover your load!

BRUSH ONLY - loads that contain garbage and other items will be charged the regular fee.

Monday -Wednesday residential customers will be collected regularly. Thursday Customers will be collected Friday.
Note: Transfer Station will be closed Nov 27, 28 & 29 and will resume operations Monday Dec 1st 2025, 7a - 3pm.
CHRISTMAS DAY
Thursday- December 25th, 2025
Monday -Wednesday residential customers will be collected regularly. Thursday Customers will be collected Friday.

Requirements & Guidelines

How to properly put out your containers for pickup.

Garbage Container Requirements
  • Please set cans out by 6:00 AM on day of service and remove within 24 hours
  • All garbage must be bagged including yard debris, grass, brush
  • Lids must be able to close
  • Do not overfill container
  • Place wheeled cart against the curb or along the alley with the handle pointing towards your residence; do not block the sidewalk with carts
  • Keep carts at least three feet away from other carts, mailboxes, fire hydrants, low hanging trees or shrubs, parked cars, or utility poles so trucks can easily access the cart
  • Do not place Hazardous Waste in can
  • It is homeowners’ responsibility to keep cart clean
  • Weight Limit 200 pounds
Recycle Container Requirements
  • Please set cans out by 6:00 AM on day of service and remove within 24 hours.
  • Please do not bag anything in the recycle can except for shredded paper in a clear plastic bag.
  • Place wheeled cart against the curb or along the alley with the handle pointing towards your residence; do not block the sidewalk with carts.
  • Keep carts at least three feet away from other carts, mailboxes, fire hydrants, low hanging trees or shrubs, parked cars, or utility poles so trucks can easily access the cart.
  • Break down recycling to fit inside of your cart with the lid closed.
  • Cardboard boxes should be flattened.
  • Remember no plastic bags are permitted. 
  • If you don’t have room in your cart for all your recycling, consider getting a second recycling cart.
Recycle Right! - What can/can't be recycled

Accepted Recycle Items

  • Corrugated cardboard: must fit completely inside cart. Flatten if necessary.
  • Paper: Newspaper, magazines, catalogs, paperboard, office paper.
  • Aluminum & Steel (tin): Soft drink cans, soup cans, pie pans, foil, empty aerosol cans.
  • Plastics: Detergent/milk jugs, soft drinks, and juice bottles.

Not Accepted Items:

  • Plastic Bags and films (grocery bags, trash bags, shrink wrap, bubble wrap, etc.)
  • Construction Debris
  • Wood
  • Electronics
  • Foam Materials (including packing peanuts, foam cups/plate)
  • Hazardous Waste.

You can support the Prescott Community Compost Project by donating clean leaves. Leaves must be free of gravel/rocks, pet waste, and trash with minimal pine needles and desert oak.

Tips on how to Keep Your garbage can Clean

  • Set can out every week even if not full
  • Line can with newspaper or cardboard to prevent items from sticking to bottom of can
  • Store can in cool, dry place out of direct sunlight
  • Use paper bags (not plastic) to keep kitchen scraps contained
  • Spray with any household cleaner, scrub, rinse with garden hose, and allow to air dry
